A Passage of Time

Over the last 12 months with more lockdowns and isolation there has been a lot of time to spend at my art practice and also to reflect on memories of past holidays and special people in my life.

With this in mind and using my signature bright colours and lots of layers, I found myself becoming more definite with my brush strokes and unafraid to block out large areas of my painting with a single colour. Often I would leave out quirky shapes to become interesting details such as rock treasures, abstract plants and flowers or little creatures that I imagined.

I also enjoyed bringing in family names to some of my art work titles as this helped me to remember them and keep them alive when I was unable to see them physically in this unusual passage of time.
