Reflections on my painting practice...

When I was a very little girl I used to walk down our street where I lived in Melbourne talking to the letter boxes. I remember posting little gifts of nature such as leaves and flowers into them. Many years later as a grown up with a developing art practice, I feel I am back to that wonderful childhood place again. I paint in an abstract style because I enjoy escaping from the real world and going on a journey with my imagination. Once I start I never quite know where I am going. However I find by using a lot of bright colour, shapes and distinctive mark-making, this helps me to find my way. I am also on the lookout for hidden treasures that I could develop further. For example I have paintings that have been created around a teapot shape, a three legged sheep and the Troll’s bridge. This is the motivation to keep going and unfold a story.
I hope you enjoy my work.
